Mobile casinos are already taking over the gambling industry. Mobile casinos generated more than $30 billion net casino revenue in 2012. It’s amazing how much money players are prepared to wager in popular mobile games such as Blackjack and Video Slots.
Many technology geeks have also estimated that by 2014 more people will be accessing the internet via their mobile phones and tablets than computers, which means the mobile gaming sector is going to literally BOOM over the next few years!
Although mobile gaming has only just taken off, there are already a great choice of mobile gaming providers and apps to choose from, each with their own pioneering mobile games, promotions and features.
This makes choosing a mobile casino a little more “complicated” than an online casino, since the game play, choice of games and promotions can vary massively depending on how developed an operator’s promoted mobile casino is.
32Red Casino
We always think of 32Red as a bit of trendsetter in the gambling industry. This is because they are one of very few companies who first set out to become an online casino before then venturing into the world of sports betting, where most tend to do it the other way round.
We’ve been big fans of what 32Red have done in the casino industry for a number of years now and they have continued to impress us with their keen eye for detail and also dedication toward innovations such as mobile casino. This review will be looking to see if their mobile casino can stand up to the high standards that their online one has set.
Mobile Casino Games
32Red have two of the more powerful software providers behind them in Microgaming and Quickfire. Both companies have been around the development industry for a number of years now, with Microgaming widely regarded as the biggest software developer in the industry.
Their slots portfolio allows you to access over 60 titles, with some of the more interesting including Thunderstruck 2, Game of Thrones, Tomb Raider and Hitman. The selection on offer is of a good amount and generally above the mobile casino industry standard. That being said, we can’t help but feel that there are a lot of pretty mediocre titles involved in this list and whilst the good out way the bad, we feel as though they could have selected better than they have.
Their table games selection is without doubt the weakest section of their mobile casino with options of only European roulette and European blackjack on offer. They do include video poker to accompany them, but apart from that, it feels extremely limited.
Features
One thing we will say is that the design of the app certainly isn’t up to the standard of some of its competitors. Due to the fact that 32Red are renowned for their casino options, the app definitely feels a little dated and things just don’t seem to work well on mobile devices.
Usability isn’t exactly a blast either, with long lists that you have to seemingly scroll forever through, along with a timely wait for some of the more resource hungry games that they offer.
Betfred Casino
Betfred are probably better known for their dealings in the sports betting industry, but they actually boast one of the more comprehensive casinos for UK players. Their latest addition of a mobile casino is just another branch in what’s developing into an impressive gambling outlet. This review will be looking to see how Betfred are competing in one of the more developing sections of the gambling industry.
Mobile Casino Games
The mobile casino is made up of around 40 slots to play. Each of the slots has been specifically designed for a mobile device so they all look pretty slick. They do range in terms of performance though, with some being far more entertaining than others. They do include a number of franchised licences though such as the superb King Kong, Spiderman and one of our favourite all-time slots, Monty Python’s Spamalot.
The only downside to their slots section is the inclusion of some titles that we thought were pretty poor online slots. As Betfred have clearly hand picked the games that they have included, it’s been interesting to see some of these make the final cut.
Your table games will include roulette (both premium and European), blackjack, jacks or better multi-hand and original jacks or better. Again, a pretty solid range without ever being massively inspiring!
You’ll also be able to play around a dozen or so jackpot games, which are becoming more popular on the Betfred mobile casino. These games again range in terms of how good the games are on their own, but with them being jackpot games, they are always popular.
Features
We’re big fans for good the mobile casino looks on the whole. Betfred haven’t always had the best designs (especially their sportsbook) but they seem to have cracked it with the mobile casino. It’s pretty simple, like most, but it’s got that touch of class in terms of finish, which really sets it apart.
What should be intriguing over the coming months is to see how they integrate their live casino games into the app, which they have reported they are doing. Whether you will be able to get the stream as you would online, we don’t know, but if they do manage to pull it off, it will definitely be a really cool feature in an expanding mobile casino.
BetVictor Casino
BetVictor have been one of the most established brands in the gambling industry over the past decade. They have continued to make some of the most innovative and functional products on the market, none more so than their mobile casino section. As one of the leaders in the industry, we will be looking to see how well their mobile casino performs when compared to others that in the market.
Mobile Casino Games
The mobile casino is powered by a number of software developers that include Net Entertainment, IGT, Quickfire, Aristocrat, NextGen Gaming, Novomatic and Evolution Gaming. It’s a long list, for sure, but this does allow them to pick and choose between the best games from each developer, giving them a good range of games on offer.
Their mobile slots section is something of absolute beauty. Not only are the games some of the best, but you get to choose from over 150 video slots, which on a mobile platform is unheard of within the industry. The games range but include titles such as South Park, Magic Portals, Starburst and Aliens, to name but a few.
In terms of table games you’re going to be looking at variations of roulette, blackjack, casino hold’em, stud poker, keno, hi-lo gambler and jacks or better. Don’t forget though, that these games will not count towards the wager requirements of your welcome bonus!
Features
The design of the mobile casino is undoubtedly one of the best we have tested so far. It looks fantastic and it’s easy to flick between different games as you wish. One thing that we will say is that with the massive list of slots to choose from, it can take a while to scroll right through, then get back to the top for the navigation menu, although this is only a small gripe.
Live casino games can also be accessed from their mobile casino and they tend run pretty smoothly, even on a 3G connection. The casino is very much integrated into their mobile sports and in-play section, which really adds to the depth of the app.
BGO
BGO have been one of the most exciting additions to the mobile casino industry. A relatively new company, BGO have gone all out to design what’s already one of the fastest growing player databases from their online casino and will be looking to expand further with the developments of their mobile casino.
Whenever a new mobile casino outlet comes into the industry it’s tough to compare them to some of the more established, but as they’ve already got off to a flying start online, we’re pretty confident that they should be able to at least compete with some of the bigger players in the industry.
Mobile Casino Games
The BGO mobile casino has worked hard to produce a really strong range of games for their online site. We were pleased to see that they had teamed up with software providers Net Entertainment, Quickfire, NextGen Gaming, Eyecon, Bally Technologies, IGT and BGO Studios to make sure that their overall coverage is as good as it can be for their mobile product as well.
In terms of slots you get a really nice mix of games totally 81 slots in total. One of their latest additions is that of Game of Thrones, which was only released a week or so before writing this review. We know that the slot is good, but we are more pleased to see its inclusion due to the fact that they are continuingly updating the games that they have in their catalogue.
Table games will include three forms of roulette, three forms of blackjack and 5 forms of video poker. Whilst this isn’t a huge amount, it’s likely more than the majority of mobile casinos in the market, so it’s a win for us.
Features
First off, the mobile casino site looks incredible. It was vibrant to look at and there were no fiddly buttons that required a tooth pick to press. The site flowed nicely in terms fo scrolling between slots and the load time for games was also of pretty good standard.
We wouldn’t say the mobile site was feature rich, but we did like the scrolling marque at the top signifying some of the more popular games.
Casino Luck
Casino Luck might not be the biggest brand in the mobile casino industry, but they are one of the companies making the biggest strides. Their mobile expansion has come quite quickly, considering how relatively young to company, but this is definitely a positive in our eyes. We will be looking to see how well their mobile casino performs in what’s becoming one of the most competitive marketplaces in the gambling industry.
Mobile Casino Games
Casino Luck has been clever in how they’ve approached the games that they have on offer. Many mobile casinos will work alongside a fair few software developers, but these guys have decided to work with just three in Net Entertainment, Microgaming and IGT. It just so happens that these developers have some of the best mobile casino games in the industry, making Casino Luck a hot bed of gaming action.
The slots section is something to behold with over 180 titles to choose from. This easily puts them up there as one of biggest slots selections in the industry. But they have just gone for quantity over quality, far from it, with titles that include Magic Portals, South Park and Hitman, to name but a few.
You’d think that with so many slots on offer the range of table games would suffer, but again Casino Luck have come out smelling of roses. Thee are no less than 5 varieties of blackjack on offer along with roulette, casino hold’em and 7 versions of video poker.
Features
With all this good in the mobile casino, you have to start to wonder, what’s the catch? Well, for us the catch is the design. It’s a very small layout and on the smartphone screen it really struggles. Having to scroll through 180 slots listed in rows of just twos takes some time, but then they do offer a collapsible menu for their games if you’re looking to jump to a certain section.
As with most mobile casinos, you can access all your account details directly from the app, which will also point you in the right direction, should you need any help from customer support.
ComeOn Casino
It’s been interesting to watch the expansion of ComeOn over the last few years and to see how, being a fairly newcomer to the casino industry, they would compare in such a competitive marketplace. One thing that they’ve really nailed down is the ability to offer a top product, in terms of their casino at least. Their latest trait has been into the world of mobile casino and in this review we will be looking to see how they’ve gone about developing into one of the most exciting brands in the casino business.
Mobile Casino Games
ComeOn are another mobile casino that has decided to use multiple software platforms to make sure they can offer the best products to their users. These networks include Net Entertainment, Microgaming, Playtech, Play 'n' Go and Evolution. Whilst they don’t take each game from each developer, they can decide which games to take from each, something that we are always keen on seeing from our mobile casino.
It will come as little surprise to hear that slots are the bread and butter to the ComeOn mobile casino. In fact, they’ve got a portfolio that includes well in excess of 100 titles, which is very impressive and even trumps a lot of mobile casinos that have been established for a lot longer than ComeOn have. What’s really cool is that they offer a ‘New slots’ section, which provides you with all of their latest titles. Interestingly, they are one of the first mobile casinos to include the massively anticipated Game of Thrones slot, which is worth the admission fee on its own.
Table games will include the usual suspects in roulette, blackjack, and variations of the two. They’ve also got a really solid video poker section that includes about a dozen formats of the game, again offering one of the most comprehensive of this kind in the industry.
Features
The design is possibly the only section that lets the mobile casino down somewhat. It’s quite fiddly on the smartphone (iPhone 5s) screen that we tested on with some of the navigation tabs needing to be pressed multiple times before being successfully clicked.
Having said that, they are one of the few companies that offer the ability to switch back to the desktop version of the site, should you wish, although we found this even tougher to navigate on a smartphone.
Coral Casino
Coral are one of the biggest gambling outlets in Europe and have gone on to become one of the most trusted mobile casinos in the industry. They have continued to make some of the most reliable and entertaining games using a number of software providers including IGT and Playtech.
Mobile Casino Games
Video slots will make the bulk of the coral mobile casino app. The range is actually really strong with over 80 games to play. The games on offer provide a really solid base for the casino with titles including Mr Cashback, Wild Knights and Monopoly Dream Life, to name but a few. One thing that we really liked about the slots section is that Coral are constantly adding new titles to their portfolio. They include a ‘New’ and ‘Featured’ section from within the mobile site, which makes it easy to track what’s been added, and also popular games.
They include about 10 or so different table games that includes roulette, blackjack, casino hold’em and baccarat. Different variations can be had of each game, which keeps them feeling fresh. Even though the range of games is a fair bit less than that of their online site, we never found that the games really became stale and all the ‘standard’ variations for each were on offer.
We mentioned that they use IGT and Playtech as their software providers, but they actually include Electracade, Evolution Gaming, Amaya Gaming, Barcrest, Quickspin and WMS Gaming as well. It’s tough to really pick which providers produce each game, but it’s nice to know that they have kept their options open as to the range of games they can include.
Features
The first thing that really jumped out at us with the Coral mobile site is how good it looks. Coral have undergone a bit of re-design over the last twelve months and it’s good to see that this has been transferred to their mobile site as well. The site feels clean and easy to navigate about, but we did find that on rare occasions it could be a little unresponsive.
We actually enjoyed the fact that the mobile site was integrated with the rest of the Coral portfolio. So, if you were looking to jump between say casino and sports, you could do so without having to load up a new page. It’s also worth noting that Coral use a ‘one-wallet’ system, which means that you don’t need to transfer funds between different accounts for both sports and casino.
Gala Casino
It’s probably fair to say that Gala is better known for its dealings within the online bingo industry. The site is one of the UK’s oldest gambling brands, but what you may not realise is that whilst bingo is their bread and butter, they have an extremely comprehensive online casino as well. Now, naturally the progression from online these days is mobile and we will be looking to see how their casino has been adapted to fit the smaller screen mobile device.
Mobile Casino Games
What you’ll find from Gala’s mobile casino is that they offer up a wide range of games to choose from. Gala is a mobile casino that uses multiple software providers and in turn, allows them to choose from multiple software providers. These providers include Electracade, IGT, Playtech, Evolution Gaming, Quickspin, Barcrest, Amaya Gaming and WMS Gaming.
Their slots section is probably the bread and butter of the site with over 80 titles to choose from. The standard throughout this section is actually very high and we were pleased to see some big titles in there such as Iron Man and The Pink Panther, both of which have won awards in the past. Progressive games are also in abundance with Gala and we got a sense that this is an area in which they have really tried to target.
As far as table games go, you will find roulette, blackjack, baccarat, live poker, casino hold’em and video poker, which create a nice mix. The only real downside to this is that there are no variations of each game, holding it back somewhat.
Features
The mobile casino site is actually one of the better looking ones in the market at the minute, but we can’t help but feel that it feels a little on the busy side. There’s a lot going on whilst the scrolling bar across the top certainly isn’t anything innovative in the industry, it does become a little distracting at times.
We did love the fact that you could click an info button for the majority of the games on the app. It’s only a small synopsis of the game, but if you aren’t sure what exactly you are letting yourself in for, can be a really cool addition.
LeoVegas
When new companies come along and try to infiltrate the casino industry, we generally approach with caution. It may be our cynical way, but we’ve seen so many try and fail that exciting new sites are often hard to come by. However, we have been tracking LeoVegas for some time now and the reports that we have heard and seen from their online casino have been very impressive, to say the least. They are now promoting their mobile casino which should give us a great idea of how the company intends to press forward in such a competitive marketplace.
Mobile Casino Games
LeoVegas use 8 software providers, which are Net Entertainment, Nyx Interactive, Play'n Go, Evolution Gaming, Quickfire, IGT, Yggdrasil Gaming and iSoftBet. We think that these guys may use more software providers than any other mobile casino, but one thing that we have found is that they tend to put them to good use.
The slots section includes over 200 titles to choose from, which may well be another industry record. What they’ve done is hand picked the best titles from the developers that they work with to produce a mobile slots database that most online casinos would be proud of, never mind mobile. They break them down into categories of top games, featured, all slots and classic slots, which just makes browsing amongst them so much easier.
Table games haven’t been left in the lurch either with 5 roulette games, 6 blackjack, 9 video poker games and 13 other assortments of casino table games. We can honestly say that we’ve never seen a mobile casino include so many games.
Features
We know what you’re thinking, there must be a downside to all this to make it come crashing down. But we can’t really find one. The mobile site even looks good and it’s a joy t flick between games. It loads quickly and the buttons on show are made for people with chunky hands and not tooth pick fingers.
It’s tough to say if these guys are the best of the best but it’s hard to really find a fault. In terms of database of games, at least, they are one of, if not the, best in the industry.
Moneygaming
Moneygaming may be a brand that you’ve never heard of, but they are a company who are making big waves in the casino industry. Their online site has been set up for a couple of years now and whilst it’s probably fair to say they haven’t hit the heights of the biggest casinos in the industry, they have made steady progress. When we heard that they were releasing a mobile version of their site we were thrilled and couldn’t wait to see if they held the potential of making it as one of the leading mobile casino sites.
Mobile Casino Games
Unfortunately for the mobile casino, it doesn’t fair too well when it comes to games that they have on offer. There are only 21 slots to choose from and that is pretty much your lot. Some of the more popular titles incudes Monopoly, Cleudo, Wolf Run and Battleships.
You will get two table games in blackjack and roulette, but again it’s very slim pickings if truth be told. Whilst they are still a very young mobile casino, we can offer a reasonable amount of leeway, but to be honest, the range is severely lacking compared to most.
Features
The Moneygaming mobile site is actually a really good looking one. It’s got a modern design and it functions really well. They had nice, chunky looking logos to click for selecting the game of your choice and we found that the majority of the games that we tested loaded sharply, even on a 3G connection.
Mr Green
Mr Green has probably been one of the biggest revelations over he last twelve months in the online casino world. They are one of very few companies who have managed to break into the marketplace by offering up a really solid casino base straight out the pipe. Most companies you see coming into the casino industry take time to get going and build a portfolio, but the guys at Mr Green have really hit the ground running. It’s even more credit to their success that they have include a mobile casino to work alongside their online platform, of which we will be reviewing in this article.
Mobile Casino Games
One of the things that keeps Mr Green’s mobile casino feeling so fresh is that they don’t limit themselves to just one or two software providers, in fact they have 7! The providers are Net Entertainment, IGT, Quickfire, Evolution Gaming, Bally Technologies, Yggdrasil Gaming and Thunderkick. What’s interesting is that there are a couple of smaller developers thrown in for good measure meaning they can often provide a few niche titles that a lot of mobile casinos wont have.
Their slots section is a thing of absolute beauty and you can find will in excess of 150 titles to choose from, easily putting them as one of the most comprehensive mobile slots catalogues in the industry. The titles on offer aren’t too shabby either with classics such as Gonzo’s Quest and Jack Hammer along with slightly more mainstream games such as Aliens and Game of Thrones.
Their table games include the usual suspects such as roulette, blackjack and video poker. A recent addition to these types of games is that of live casino roulette, which would suggest that down the line they will be bringing more live casino games to their mobile platform.
Features
It’s got to be said, Mr Green might just have the best looking mobile casino in the industry! It looks superb and everything seems to have it’s place. We loved the fact that they don’t offer you small fiddly buttons to enter games or even menus, instead opting for big, bold buttons that work so much better on smaller screens such as smartphones.
The top navigation bar includes two sections in ‘featured’ and ‘top rated’ that were a god send to prevent having to scroll through hundreds of slots. The games seem to be coming thick and fast to the mobile casino, with a around a dozen or so ‘new’ titles to choose from.
Sky Vegas
Sky Vegas has been one of the most refreshing ‘newer’ casinos over the last few years or so. The company have gone all out on making their site a user friendly, in-depth and charming experience for its punters. The mobile version has continued that theme and we will be looking at the how’s and whys Sky Vegas has become one of the UK’s most popular gambling choices.
Mobile Casino Games
Sky Vegas have one of the most extensive range of mobile casino games that we have come across. One of the main reasons for this is the fact that you choose from over 80 slots on the mobile site. We’ve got to be fair and say that a lot of them aren’t the best, but titles such as Starburst, Cleopatra and Pharaoh’s Fortune are all titles that you should be looking out for.
The table games include both blackjack and roulette with their latest addition being that of Deal or No Deal of both games. It’s also worth noting that you can play live dealer games directly from the mobile site, which is one of few to offer this feature.
Jackpot games are also a firm favourite with Sky Vegas and there are 18 currently available to play ranging from slots to table games. The jackpots for each game can vary, depending on when it was last won, but they will often hit 6 figures!
Similar to a lot of the bigger mobile casinos, Sky Vegas have spread their eggs across multiple baskets in terms of software providers. These include IGT, OpenBet, Novomatic, WMS Gaming and Barcrest.
Features
The design of the Sky Vegas mobile casino is actually pretty basic. It feels a bit like a no frills offering but that’s not always a bad thing when it comes to mobile products. It actually functions quite well and are are told the ‘stripped back’ design drastically reduces load time and resources on your phone.
Vernons Casino
Vernons is probably a brand that a lot of you may never have heard of, and that’s because they are pretty new to mobile casino industry. Their mobile site has only been released in 2013, which does put them at a slight disadvantage straight off the bat. But, what often interests us about these guys who are probably less mainstream than a lot of their competitors is that every now and again you just find a hidden gem. We will be using this review to find out how well Vernons performs in the mobile casino sector.
Mobile Casino Games
Unlike the majority of online casinos, Vernons only takes it games from Playtech software providers. Whilst Playtech are a good quality provider, this often makes us think that the line-up on offer is going to be limited.
We were right! You only get to choose from 15 slots across the entire mobile casino. Some of their bigger titles include Magic Treasure, Rocky and Fish-O-Rama, but this doesn’t really excuse the poor turnout in numbers. Table games don’t really get much better with simple versions of blackjack and roulette to pick from.
Features
The mobile casino feels very small for the most part and you are literally greeted with one page hosting all the games on offer. The lack of any structure or sorting on the app doesn’t really bode well for usability either.
The app does include a list of pages where you can find out details on your promotion, support, FAQ’s and terms and conditions, but apart from that it feels very thin on the ground.
All in all, we must admit that their mobile casino leaves a lot to be desired, which is a little disappoint given how good their online version is!
Virgin Games
Virgin is one of the biggest brands in the world, and whilst they are probably known for bigger things than their gambling empire, they are still one of the more prominent casinos in the industry. One of their more recent ventures was to that of mobile casino and throughout this article we will be looking to see how they perform. What’s interesting about Virgin is that everyone knows the company and they also know how successful they have been. This would lead you to think that they are also going to be successful in the mobile casino industry, but we still like to find out for ourselves.
Mobile Casino Games
Virgin have called in two software providers in IGT and Gamesys to try and make a comprehensive range of mobile casino games for their users. The two providers – IGT especially – have been around for a fair while and also power some of the biggest mobile casinos in the industry.
The range of slots on offer from Virgin is actually fairly poor and you get a measly 24 titles to choose from. When you compare this to some of the leading companies offering up will in excess of 100 slots, it really does underline why they haven’t really been able to kick on in the mobile casino industry just yet. Another downside is that the games that are on offer don’t really standout with the best coming from Transformers and Spartacus (both of which are excellent slots by the way!).
It doesn’t get much better reading for table games enthusiast with just one version of roulette and blackjack to pick from the whole mobile site.
Features
Sadly, the mobile site doesn’t look particularly great either and they have incorporated a horizontal slider, which can be a nightmare for iPhone users due to the fact that this function also takes you back and forward from different web pages.
The mobile casino also lacks a little in terms of features as well, with not an awful lot to report. As a kind send off, we will say it’s a very basic mobile casino.
Choosing the Best Mobile Casino
The most important thing when downloading a mobile casino to begin with is a strong reputation, industry awards, and of course that it’s compatible with your particular mobile phone model.
Microgaming casinos have traditional been the most popular for UK players since they provide some of the best selection of real money casino games and have an excellent 15+ year reputation as a casino software provided. The have developed real money casino games for mobile platforms including the iPhone and Android such as Roulette, Blackjack, Treasure Nile, Megah Moolah, Mobile Jackpots and other multi-line slots games.
USA Friendly?
If you’re from the USA than you’ll need to check which online casinos still accept US players. The UIGEA 2006 made it illegal for online payment processors to process US credit cards at gambling operators. That’s why many former US-friendly casinos shut their doors to US players.
New Players Bonuses and Promotions
I can’t speak for everyone but I know a lot of casino players who need a bit of a “push” to sign up to a mobile casino and play games on their mobile phone.
That’s where mobile casino bonuses and promotions come in. It’s a really good idea to look out for the best mobile casino bonuses and promotions since most of the time these are available exclusively for mobile players and not given to regular players on the website.
On our website, you’ll find a range of mobile casino bonuses ranging from £50 up to $1,000, with additional re-load bonuses, loyalty points rewards and cash back VIP schemes. All these are great because they make playing casino games on your mobile very rewarding.
A lot of the time you’ll receive a free mobile bonus up front (or just for signing up) as soon as you make a deposit on your mobile and wager money in any of the mobile casino games or slots. Be aware however, since all of these bonuses carry their own withdrawal and rollover requirements.
